A fixed deposit (FD) is a financial instrument provided by banks which provides investors with a higher rate of interest than a regular savings account, until the given maturity date.
The rate of interest paid for fixed deposit vary (changes) according to amount, period and from bank policies.
The Churu Central Co-Operative Bank provides "Recurring Deposit" to deposit a fixed amount every month; "QIP : Quarterly Interest Payable" for deposit quarterly interest to customer; and "MIP : Monthly Interest Payable" for deposit monthly interest to customer.
Features of Fixed Deposit Account :
1. Customers can avail loans against FDs up to 80 to 85 percent of the value of deposits. The rate of interest on the loan could be 1 percent over the rate offered on the deposit.
2. The main purpose of fixed deposit account is to enable the individuals to earn a higher rate of interest on their surplus funds.
3. The period of fixed deposits ranges between 15 days to 10 years.
4. Customer can submit form 15G/H to avail benefit of TDS exemption. In case the amount in 15G/H exceeds the applicable minimum tax exemption limit, the form would not be valid.
